The onset of summer in the mountain town of Durango, Colorado inches a bit closer with the announcement of the artist lineup for the Durango Blues Train on May 29, 30, 31 and August 22, 24 & 25, 2025. The Durango Blues Train is excited to kick off it's 13th year rockin' and rollin' aboard the the historic Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad with Chase Walker Band, Eric Heideman, Brody Buster, Delta Sonic Duo, Joce Reyome, and 100lb Housecat for the May train and Grant Sabin Trio, The Lucky Strokes, Felix Gato Peralta, Hymn For Her, CW Ayon Duo and Lightweight Travelers for the August train.

Chase Walker Band

Chase Walker Band has quickly emerged as one of the most exciting new artists in Blues Rock, with a fiery blend of grit, soul, and electrifying musicianship. Walker’s soulful guitar work and powerhouse vocals bring a raw, undeniable energy—the band delivers music that feels both nostalgic and fresh.

His latest album, Sounds of an Old Soul (July 2024), marks a milestone in his career as his first fully self-produced record. The album’s breakout single, "No Good," became an instant hit, featured on Spotify’s Modern Blues Rock, Bonamassa’s Cutting Edge Blues, and over 25,000 playlists worldwide, propelling the album to nearly 2 million streams and counting.

Walker, an alumni of NBC’s The Voice, has received acclaim from Guitar World, American Blues Scene, Blues Rock Review, Guitar Player, and more, emerging as a force to be reckoned with and bringing blues rock roaring into the future. Don’t miss the Chase Walker Band!


Eric Heideman

Eric Heideman is a 26-year-old blues musician living in Austin, Texas from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Heideman was requested to open shows for ZZ Top at Eccles Theatre, and Walter Trout, and Mike Zito at The State Room.

He recorded his breakthrough record, Third Degree Gravity, with a team of Grammy nominees, Blues Music Award, and International Blues Challenge winners. Producers Victor Wainwright and JW-Jones along with master engineer Dave Gross brought their Award-winning talents to Fat Rabbit Studios in New Jersey. "This is my most exciting release yet, and I am thrilled to have worked with such a critically acclaimed team," says Heideman. "This is the most soulful and high-quality record I've made." Co-Producer JW-Jones says "Victor Wainwright and I brought out the very best of Eric's abilities, and this is a really great album!"

He was a featured performer at the Utah Blues Festival in 2022, 2023, and 2024 and has traded riffs with some of the world's top blues artists.


Brody Buster

Former child prodigy, multiple Independent Blues Award and IBC winner and nominee, Brody Buster delivers a captivating, high-energy show performing blues rock as a one man band of guitar, harmonica, percussion and vocals.

When Brody Buster was just 7 years old, he picked up one of his mother's old harmonicas and began to teach himself to play. Little did he know in a short time he would be jammin’ on Beale Street in Memphis, Tennessee. In this 8 year stretch he would take the Blues world by storm, playing worldwide and sharing the stage with the who’s who’s like Quincy Jones, Chaka Khan, Keb Mo, Lee Oskar and many other greats.

Brody has released many band and solo CD’s, with a new album releasing this Spring.


Delta Sonics Duo

The Delta Sonics are a well-known Colorado act averaging around 200 shows a year.

The Delta Sonics music takes a Chicago Blues base and seasons it with Swing, Delta, N’awlins Swamp R&B . They were Westword’s best blues band in Denver six years in a row. The band has been featured been featured at many of the major festivals in Colorado and Wyoming. Al Chesis supplies vocals, guitar and has been a Hohner harmonica endorsee since 1992. Al recently received a Colorado Blues Society Lifetime Achievement Award . Bob Pellegrino supplies the dazzling, slide guitar. They were the Colorado Blues Society's award-winning Blues Duo in 2023 and 2024. They have been the back-up band for John Primer, Big Bill Morganfield , Bob Margolin and others.


Joce Reyome

Winner of the 2024 Solo/Duo Category of the International Blues Challenge, Reyome, a genuine soul, brings authenticity to their performances, turning audiences into active participants in a journey through heartbreak and humour. With performances on the Confederation Centre of the Arts main stage in Prince Edward Island, at JUNOfest 2024, at the East Coast Music Awards, at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, Tennessee and more, they have captivated audiences wherever they’ve been.


100LB Housecat

Marcus Trummer weaves blues, soul, R&B, and rock into a modern sound steeped in tradition. Dubbed “a precocious guitarist whose vocals possess a wise-beyond-his-years weariness” by the Calgary Herald, the young artist from the Canadian city of Calgary has built a reputation as a compelling live performer off the back of playing shows throughout Western Canada. Trummer’s songwriting has also earned him recognition with his single, Running on My Own, receiving the award for Blues Recording of the Year at Calgary's YYC Music Awards in 2022. That same year, he was also nominated for New Artist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards in Toronto. As the recent winner of the Telluride Blues Challenge, Trummer continues to establish his place as a prominent emerging artist on the current blues and soul music scenes.

Grant Sabin Trio

Grant Sabin is renowned for his hard work as a musician and songwriter, performing throughout Colorado and beyond. As a solo artist he's been captivating audiences for years with his raw voice and dynamic stage presence. As a band leader, he turns the volume up to 11. Drawing from his Delta blues influences, Sabin's unique musical style is characterized by his biting slide guitar, soulful growl, and heartfelt lyrics. Sabin has shared the stage with artists like: T Model Ford, Patrick Sweaney, Booker T Jones (Of Booker T and the MGs), Otis Taylor, Guy Davis, Los Lobos, G-Love, Charlie Parr,

John Fogerty and more. His honest and convincing approach to the blues, folk, hip-hop and rock genres makes him one of the rare few to possess innate musical talent. It's no wonder people say he is one of those performers who "just has it."


The Lucky Strokes

Mississippi-based guitarist and vocalist, Shelby Kemp (winner of the 2024 Telluride Blues Challenge), brings a Southern rock grit and candid, nimble songwriting. He’s teamed up with the Tampa Bay-based Galbraith sisters (Taylor Galbraith on drums, and Ashley Galbraith on bass), who possess a simpatico rhythm section chemistry only found within a family bloodline.


Felix Gato Peralta

Felix Gato Peralta is a dynamic blues musician who seamlessly blends the rich sounds of zydeco with southwestern themes, creating a captivating musical experience for audiences worldwide. With over 20 years of stage experience, Felix has traveled from the dirt roads of New Mexico to international festival stages across Europe and back to the majestic Rocky Mountains, showcasing his talents on button accordion, guitar, and harmonica. Accompanied by the talented Justin Bransford, affectionately known as "The Professor," Felix enhances the sound with stand-up bass and bow. Justin custom-fits every musical situation with his palette of organic tones, achieving a spiritual balance between earth and sky. Together, they create a vibrant vaquero gumbo of songwriting. Their performances transcend mere concerts; they are immersive cultural experiences that celebrate the heart and soul of American roots music.


Hymn For Her

Hymn For Her is an Americana/rock duo consisting of Lucy Tight and Wayne Waxing, known for their raw, high-energy performances and eclectic blend of folk, blues, and rock. Based in the Appalachian region, their music reflects the grit and spirit of their environment, mixing acoustic sounds with electric energy. The duo’s songs often explore themes of love, life on the road, and personal reflection, underpinned by their harmonies and creative instrumentation. They utilize a variety of instruments, including guitars, banjo, and drums, to create a unique sound that has earned them a dedicated following. Hymn For Her has toured extensively, sharing the stage with artists across genres. Their authentic, no-frills approach to music has made them a standout in the roots and Americana scenes.


CW Ayon Duo

Dance ready and dipped in soul, CW Ayon Duo is a one man band mixed with a Willie Dixon styled slap bassist bringing

Blues styles from the hill country of Northern Mississippi to the mud of the Rio Grande.


Lightweight Travelers

Americana-inspired style that channels the blues perfectly. With depth that stretches beyond the typical 12-bar, Jackson can add just the right amount of gravel to his vocals, and he has tasteful licks on the slide to back it up. -Telluride Blues and Brews

Leading with potent vocal harmonies, Durango-based Lightweight Travelers shape shift across the roots music landscape with a flair for gritty slide guitars and harmonica-led hoedowns. Jackson Magyar and Theresa Piela share a storytelling artistry that reaches deep into various folk styles. There’s hardly a more fitting place than a mountain-bound train to experience Lightweight Travelers’ unique, exuberant take on the country blues.

Jackson Magyar is a two-time Finalist at the Telluride Blues and Brews Blues Challenge.

WELCOME ABOARD

The Durango Blues Train is an exciting 3.5 hour moving musical experience providing two consecutive evenings of live blues. The event features six live blues performances on board the Historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad’s coal-fired, steam-powered train traveling through the spectacular and breathtaking canyons of the San Juan National Forest.
 
Each artist performs in their own vintage coach, while passengers are free to dance their way from coach to coach and delight in a variety of musical performances. Four coaches have seats while two are open with no seats to entice and encourage dancing. Enjoy the blues, award-winning craft beer, wine and the beautiful scenery of the famous train featured in the Hollywood production, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."
 
To cap it all off, passengers will experience breathtaking sunset views along the "Highline," a world famous section of the railroad, as the train crawls along craggy cliffs 400 feet high above the Wild Animas River, known to be the most beautiful section of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.

Tickets for the Durango Blues Train on May 29, 30 & 31 go on sale Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 10 am (MST).  Tickets for August 21, 22 & 23 go on sale Wednesday, February 19 at 10 am (MST) Tickets are $159 per person per night, plus a Historic Train Preservation fee. Tickets are limited and will sell out in advance. Purchasers must be 21 years old to participate. Tickets will be available online here.
